Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors

What I remember from that game past year was their defense pushed us out to half court and they were grabbing and really being physical on our shooters. The Warriors took a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Despite speculation that the Cleveland Cavaliers could make some changes to their starting lineup after two straight wipeouts in the Bay Area, coach Tyronn Lue stuck with the same five - LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith on Wednesday night.

Everything they wanted. Pace, physical nature, venue, support.

They hit the mark, winning 73 games. "It's not over. This was a insane game, anything can happen".

Thompson missed the only shot he took and pulled down only three rebounds.

"Definitely tough, hurts", he said.

LeBron James had 39 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists in Game 3 as the NBA Finals returned to Cleveland with the Cavs down 2-0 to the Warriors. He went the bench with his team up two, but by the time the quarter ended, the Cavs trailed, 39-31.

Klay Thompson led Golden State with 21 points in the first half, sinking 5-of-7 from 3-point range, while Durant added 16 and Curry 14 off 4-of-6 3-point shooting.

Down by three at the half, it really looked like the Cavaliers might give the Warriors a run for their money in Game 2 of the 2017 NBA Finals. But the Cavs missed their last eight shots and committed a turnover. Durant is fifth on that list at $60.6 million, and Curry is eighth at $47.3 million. But Irving missed a three-pointer, and after Curry hit a pair of free throws - and Cleveland inexplicably wasted 13 seconds before fouling - Andre Iguodala stripped James on an attempted three-pointer and then forced James to step out of bounds and turn the ball over. Golden State has been punishing Cleveland in transition, and the way the Warriors have blown open the first two games by scoring in bunches hasn't just taken a physical toll.

"Yeah, Zaza has been great, fantastic", Kerr said. We know if we get off the board and push, we're a unsafe team. "We were one game away from winning a championship, so you can-I don't think you can second guess that that much". But I was able to get second and third and fourth winds.

"We're not at each other's house every day, we're not that type of thing, but when you go through these battles, from October to now, I definitely feel like I know him a lot better than I did", Curry said. "I looked at it yesterday and the force they brought was remarkable and we didn't stand up to it". Me personally I gave everything I have. I'll probably be replaying that play for a while.

Of course, those Warriors didn't have the brilliant Durant on their roster.

The Warriors entered play as the best team in the National Basketball Association in the third quarter and had outscored the Cavs by 24 in the first two games.

The Cavaliers had just lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals, 118-113, to the visiting Warriors.

LeBron James, as always, was fantastic for Cleveland.

Q: Was there a sense with the team in that last stretch where you just saw that the Cavs couldn't exactly capitalize on some when they got some stops, and then you guys got some second-chance opportunities, too, and really kept kind of swinging?

Showing off his ability to spin in shots high off the backboard, Irving scored 16 in the third quarter and the Cavs held the Warriors to 22 points in their lowest scoring output in any quarter in this postseason.

"I love the Warriors", he said.
