Apple Homepod vs Amazon Echo vs Google Home

I would actually use the HomePod as my apartment speaker movies and music. In an interview with the Journal, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue boasted that Apple switched Siri to a machine-learning system, which improved the software's performance.

To start with, we have to draw a distinction between Bluetooth speakers and smart speakers. The Apple HomePod also incorporates Siri, the digital voice-activated assistant for Apple. This new breed of speaker presents a tantalizing future powered by voice, where computing is not tied to a screen.

What is it used for? Right now, you need a fourth-generation Apple TV or an iPad resident in your house in order to schedule some HomeKit devices and control them all from outside your home.

Google's Assistant software is also able to answer follow-up questions on the same topic, in a near-conversation style, but Echo as yet can not.

Google got in next with the Google Home, a price leader at $110.

Amazon and Google are early movers in this market.

Integrated Music Services - Google Home supports third party apps like Pandora, Spotify, Youtube Music, Google Play Music and Amazon Echo supports Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify. "And we sell a lot of speakers on Amazon and we want to give people a lot of choice".

The remarks may come as a shock after Apple unveiled its new $349 (£270) smart HomePod home speaker at its 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference only days ago. If not, many people will be better off combining their Sonos speakers with Amazon's cheap Echo Dot, as both companies are now working on Alexa integration for Sonos.

Before yesterday's WWDC keynote, it was clear that Apple had quite a bit of catching up to do with its connected home play. Speakers can detect when the HomePod placed against the wall and they adjust their sound output according to it so that the sound is spread equally into the wide area of the room, instead of just muffled against the wall. The Google Home can tell different voices apart and ties in with the company's many helpful online services, like translation. Though each one works smart and apt, Google Home is an inch ahead because of Google's own enhanced search results. Meanwhile, an A8 chip runs Siri and the HomePod. You can connect 2 HomePods at the same time enabling both the speakers to work together and deliver the best sound.

Note also that even Siri's function on HomePod is widely focused on music-related tasks, such as remembering what songs the user prefers by saying, "Hey Siri, I like this song".

What are the privacy concerns? This can be an unsettling concept for people anxious about privacy, but companies say they're not recording when not in use. But Google and Apple don't offer a budget option at all.
