Erin Moran, Joanie Cunningham in "Happy Days", dies at 56

The former actress was 56. The cause of her death remained unclear and authorities are awaiting autopsy results.

It said a dispatcher received a 911 call about "an unresponsive female", and Moran was found dead when medics arrived.

Following her quick rise to fame, however, Moran struggled in life.

And Henry Winkler, who played the show's most recognisable character, The Fonz, also expressed his upset on the social media site. Fonzie would affectionately refer to Moran as "Shortcake" on the show.

Moran left Happy Days to play the lead in Joanie Loves Chachi but returned to Happy Days to end the show with her wedding to Chachi.

She was a contestant on "Celebrity Fit Club" in 2008, and her final screen appearance was in "Not Another B Movie" (2010). While other cast members continued to act or direct, acting work dried up for Moran.

Howard said on Twitter he wanted to remember how Moran lit up the screen. "A wonderful, sweet, caring, talented woman", Most wrote. "I can't really comprehend this right now". "I was talked into it", she said. Our hearts are with Erin's family now and we hope the late TV star is at peace!

Don Most, who starred alongside Erin as Ralph Malph on the sitcom tweeted, "So incredibly sad to hear about Erin". Moran was known early on for her bright eyes and smiling face during her childhood career. "She was definitely a little kooky and acted weird, saying odd things, and even offered to give me a back rub!" "RIP sweet angel", Anson said.

The 56-year-old actor claimed that he lost his virginity to Moran, in his 2007 reality TV series "Scott Baio is 45 ... and Single".

Other "Happy Days" spinoffs were "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy".

In 2010 her home in California was foreclosed and she moved to in to live in a trailer park with her mother-in-law. His mom kicked them out.

The Indianapolis Patch news website reported that Moran was found unresponsive in a trailer park in the small town of Corydon.

Moran played Joanie Cunningham in the hit sitcom as well as its spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi.
